A personal look at the world of Need for Speed from the team behind the games
VINTAGE RIDES
Comments (6)

I've always been more interested in the aesthetics of a vehicle. Less interested in its performance and more interested in its curves and lines. Old cars have always appealed to me the most. Whether it's old American muscle or the curves of a Lamborghini Miura, the classic rides of yesteryear feel much more iconic to me than most of today's cars. Don't get me wrong, I  still drool at the sight of a modern day Ferrari, but the rarity of the older cars and the mix of color and chrome just leave me dead in my tracks whenever I see one.

Many years ago I took a trip to Cuba for some R&R after finaling a project. If you've never been, or weren't aware, Havana is like a time capsule. The streets are littered with old American muscle. These are not collector cars that are showroom ready. They are functional, every-day cars that have been kept running all these years. It's remarkable to see and I loved the feeling of being in a time warp.

I was browsing the cars recently on NFSCars.net and came across an NFS fan who shares a fondness for the classics. Robin'7t4 is a fan from Poland who has an impressive collection of cars that have been modeled for NFS: Most Wanted. He even has his own fan club! His attention to details, choice of colors and modeling ability is exceptional. You can tell he has a passion for these cars and the fact that he shares his creations is awesome. He's even made vintage police vehicles and if someone really wanted to they could turn back time, drive around Rockport and imagine it was the 60's or 70's. Most of these cars are fully customizable and Robin's made multiple bodykits that represent different years and or editions of the stock car. The quality is top notch.

If you want to see more of his work, check out Robin's albums.

It's inspiring to see how much time and effort our fans are willing to put into the games we make. When I saw these cars and some of the in-game screenshots of them in action, I was blown away at how fresh it made the game feel. It was like a completely different game!!

Thanks Robin'7t4 for your passion and great work!

Thank you for doing this. It's truly heartwarming to see Robin get some exposure here. It's a little funny, however, that you've selected models which don't exactly reflect Robin's personal taste in cars. He actually prefers huge 'boats' from the late 60's / early 70's era (such as his Chryslers, the 1967 Bonneville or the 1969 Cadillac DeVille), and he has apparently grown to hate his Camaro complaining about the car being 'too small' for his liking (therefore it's a genuine treat to see the model included here as it happens to be one of my favorites). For my part, I always try to 'trick' Robin into taking up some unique design (such as the 1966 Charger which was actually up for selection by us fans - among somewhat less adventurous models) in order to showcase his talents in a more diverse way. Fortunately, encouraged by the popularity of his insanely rewarding 1956 Bel Air / Nomad (that's 2 cars in 1 package!) he's currently working on his second car from that unforgettable era. And if he ever decides to model the 1948 Tucker Torpedo (which he has strongly considered) we can expect another masterpiece. Once again, thanks.

His hard work shows. I've had quite a few people at the office comment on how brilliant these cars looked. I'm glad I was able to highlight his work to those who might not have known these car existed.
